Hi and welcome.

I  am bao'yi, and I am a counsellor practicing feminist, somatic, and psychodynamic therapy. I hold master's degrees from the UK (Psychodynamic Therapy) and the US (Intersectional Feminist Psychotherapy), and am currently training in Somatic Experiencing International.

As a feminist, queer, neurodivergent woman of color, my experiences deepen my understanding of marginalisation. I focus on gender, disability, racial, and intergenerational trauma and am committed to anti-discriminatory, LGBTQIA+ affirming practices.

What I seek to do is explore with you: how to be a "person" in this contradictory and confusing world.

We are asked to suppress ourselves and conform, yet never asked: What do you truly want? Whom do you want to become? These suppressions are tied to our past, culture, and family. They profoundly influence us and are inscribed in our bodies. Our trust in ourselves, others, and the world erodes.

Therapy can be a space where suppressed parts can be seen and heard. We witness together, not me fixing you, but us exploring new paths. We will discover the body's healing power, see ourselves clearly, and rebuild trust.

This trust is precious. But I'm a person who makes mistakes. Stumbling along, I've learned that therapy's value isn't in "not making mistakes." My choice is to genuinely invest in the relationship, remain open, and together create new possibilities for trust.

I would love to provide you with a safe and trusting place where you can figure out who you are at your own pace and be yourself.

I believe humans are connected with and influenced by society, cultures, their past, families and so on.

By forming a safe and trusting relationship in therapy, we can see how those existing relationships unknowingly impact you, and we can gain a deeper insight into your problems and a greater awareness of your own self and your way of relating.

I also offer sessions in Cantonese and Mandarin, for more information please see the traditional Chinese page or simplified Chinese page.

This cat is called 蛋仔 (Dan'zai), and he lives with me. He might come into sessions occassionally but don't fret, confidentiality applies to him too :)

In therapy, we can work together to

  • gain new perspectives on your issues

  • create a space and a working relationship that can facilitate, support and stay with you when you feel the most difficult

  • develop a new or better way to cope with difficulties in life

If you would like to find out more about how I work or would like to book a free 20-minute consultation, please contact me.
